2023 Alder Spelling Bee

The 2023 Alder Avenue Middle School Spelling Bee was held 0n January 19th in the LGI. After nine rounds and nearly two hundred words, a champion was determined. Seventh grader Alex Piskun won for the second year in a row. He is the first back-to-back champion in recent memory. Second place went to 8th grader Destiny Abreau. Third place was a tie between 8th grader Cheyenne Bilge and 6th grader Maha Protiva. Some of the words that were spelled correctly included: Sanskrit, telenovelas, Zimbabwe, architrave, Gaels, hurdy-gurdy, and Vesuvian. The championship word was Sikhism. Afterwards, the students and family members in attendance enjoyed some snacks, talked about the event and had some fun.
